All systems go

A mixed and varied week so far. Pre season preparation well under way. A new tyre for the tractor and muckspreader on Monday. Tuesday a day consisting of an interview with a potential worker in the morning, followed by the finishing touches to the “prop” (propagation greenhouse) Now repaired clean and very organised for some sowing of modules next Monday. A delivery of potting compost today, a tipsy turvy pallet that needed to be barrowed to the prop, quickly done and in its summer spot.
Good news the chickens are laying well, so plenty of eggs this week to sell. A few goose eggs too, the best for baking, and for lemon curd, they really do make the most delicious curd as their yolks are very rich and very yellow.
A few meat chickens also for sale this week. The last of our carrots too. Lovely salad bags and spinach and the first new season chard.
The best of the bought-in produce is biodynamic grapefruit, sanguinello blood oranges, that are a pudding in themselves, as they are so sweet and flavoursome. Biodynamic bananas too from the Dominicum Republic the first shipment since hurricane Sandy.
