Having missed all the rain forecasted this week, we have just had an hour and a half of heavy rain. What a joy to be out in the fields, soaked to the skin watching the rain droplets fall on our parched soil. We and the plants turned our heads upwards to feel the warm rain – rehydrating everything around. Thank you rain! Much on offer again this week with lots of leafy greens, alot of brocolli this week. Celery too, this is a particular favourite of ours, and we have been eating it braised in butter and lemon juice, strong flavours, but very delicious. Red Florence and Rosa di Milano onions, again on great form. We will be making onion tarte tatin to sell this week. Rootwise we have some milky carrots, red and golden beetroot. We harvested the balance of our new potatoes this week.. do try the British Queen, they boil beautifully , but they also roast very well close to the Aran victory quality. Autumn Bliss raspberries are bountiful, as are plums and greengage. More of Tristans frangipan plum and gage fruit tarts . We will have more of our meat coming in September with plenty of chickens and pork for sale. See you on Saturday.
