Produce Available Saturday 28th August

What a wet week! Feels very autumnal, but sun is promised for the next five days, so perhaps a little bit of summer to go. This week we have prepared a new strawberry patch, weeded the last of our cabbages, and are now planning the harvest of the main crop potatoes and the squash, but will will have to wait for the ground to dry out. However the best news of all is the arrival of our new cow and calf. She is a pedigree Hereford with nice shapely horns. She has a long posh pedigree name, but her nick name is Curly(see photograph below). She looks very at home and we are very happy to have her, and her little chap at Fern Verrow. Curly is in calf and is due on Christmas day. We are taking the first of our pigs to the abbatoir in nine days so we will be selling sausages at the Arch on Saturday 11th September and bacon and gammon the following week. Lamb and beef will also be for sale in September, chicken and duck from October… we will keep you posted.
