Produce available Saturday 21st August

Cooler, rather autumal weather this week, hot sunny spells and the odd shower, just right for the growing winter crops. Planted out (probably for the last time this year) spring cabbage and cauliflower, purple sprouting broccoli , ready for March 2011!  We managed to get our hay done last week, so now our main focus is keeping weeds under control and getting on with much needed preparation for winter. We will soon be cutting the leaf growth off the Potatoes and allow the skins to set for a few weeks before harvesting and storing them. The skins on the Onions which are in the greenhouse, drying, are setting nicely and soon we will trim them and store for winter. On a more summery note, the Tomatoes are ripening well in the greenhouse and we will have lots for sale this week. The late summer Raspberries are looking bountiful. Pears and Apples are colouring, helped along by a couple of 501 sprays.

This Saturday we have the following for sale at Borough (9 am -4pm) and at 55 Stanworth st. (9 am -2pm)

New potatoes- More delicious Charlotte , Franceline and maris Bard
Lettuces- Webbs wonderful,Cos and Cocarde
Fennel- young and tender for salad and roasting
Celery crisp and dark green
Beetroot  golden and red
Ruby Chard and green chard
Beet leaves
Bunches of milky sweet carrots
Long Red Florence onions- sweet enough to eat raw, these look very smart in an onion tart
White Musona Onions
Milano red onions
Runner beans
French slender beans
Courgettes and their flowers
Baby Leeks
Salad Leaf bags- young chard and beet leaves, corn salad and cress,Nasturtium flowers amongst the mix
Herbs: Sage,  Mint, tarragon,Rosemary, Thyme
Parsley moss and flat at it´s best right now
Mixed herb bunches
Tomatoes- (at last our own) lots of tasty and interesting varieties picked fresh from their vines
Flowers- Roses, sunflowers, daisies, cornflowers and lots  of sweet peas
Lemon verbena
Raspberries- just a few
All the above is produced at Fern Verrow and is certified Biodynamic.
We will also be bringing some fruit that will be selected in Stroud on our way up to London on Friday evening . All of it is Organic,  and in many cases Biodynamic: ( Demeter is the accrediting body for biodynamic growers and farmers)
